Day 75 - Alpine, TX

Didn't do much today. Woke up, had some free breakfast and went to be library. Before stopping at the library, we went to the post office to pick up a couple of packages that my family had sent to me - filled with all the cold weather gear that I could ever need.

At the library, Brian and I spent hours updating our blogs - so we hope you all appreciate them. I also stopped in a little store they had where they were reselling used books. I got a couple books for less than $2. After hours and hours of staring at a computer screen and eating cookies, we finally left the library and grabbed some lunch at a local pizzaria. We split a large pizza and then set out on the town to enjoy some local brew. At the Saddle Club, we were given a couple complimentary drinks each and relaxed in comfortable couches. Soon enough we were approached by a woman and a man. The woman was a friend of Regina's who was also the apprentice brewmaster for the local Big Bend Brewing Company. Her older male friend was a cyclist who knew how to party. We had a blast chatting with them for a couple of hours and laughing ourselves silly.

Brian and I eventually decided it was time to leave the Saddle Club and make our way to the college scene. Our first stop was The Eskimo. They had huge draughts of local beer for $4. We couldn't resist. Unfortunately, the crowd was a little funky and we felt a bit uncomfortable. We left in hopes of finding a friendlier environment at The Lobo. This place was insane. A lot of button down shirts tucked into please jeans and cowboy hats and boots to top off the outfit. There was two step and country music. We did not for in. In fact, we stuck out like the sorest of thumbs. The beer was cheap, but the atmosphere did not quite satisfy our needs as young eastern boys. So we decided to go to McDonalds - which just made us feel awful.

Total mileage: 0
McDonalds burgers eaten: 4
